Image upload error: The uploaded file could not be moved to wp-content/uploads/2020/10.
-
Any time I try uploading any image to my WordPress site, it gives me this error: ‘The uploaded file could not be moved to wp-content/uploads/2020/10.’ I called Bluehost for help and they advised me to download FileZilla and upload images that way, but I’m having issues with that too. It will not allow me to move any images into my wp-content/uploads/2020/10 folder. I can move it into wp-content/uploads/2020 just fine, but for some reason I don’t seem to have permissions for the 10 folder. FZ gives me this error when I try to upload images into that folder:
‘Response: 553 Can’t open that file: Permission denied
Error: Critical file transfer error’
I am at a complete loss of how to fix this. I’m very new to this and don’t have a full understanding of FileZilla or being granted permissions, so I could really use some help with solving this issue. As of now, building my website has come to a halt because I cannot upload a single image to it. -
Hi,
It looks like your site is using the open-source WordPress software (from WordPress.org) but is hosted with another webhost.
We’re only able to provide support for WordPress websites that are hosted by us here at WordPress.com. For help with a WordPress site hosted elsewhere you’ll need to ask over at the WordPress.org forums:
https://wordpress.org/support/forums/
Depending on the level of support that is included with your hosting plan, your webhost’s support team may also be able to assist.
If you want to know more about the differences between WordPress.com and the open-source WordPress software you can read this article:
