Images in media gallery showing as separate pages even when also showing on the attached articles

    Hi,

My images that I upload to word press are also on separate pages. I learned this as I googled my site name and the link that usually reads as sitetitle.com reads as a random selection of numbers and letters (an image file) when i click on it, it takes me to the image on a page by itself. The image is still also on the page it should be attached to an article but now seems to be on a second page with just the file name. This is true of all my images and visitors can see them. How do I stop the images from being visible to visitors and having a separate page with just the file name?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hi there,

Each image you upload to your site has a direct link to it’s location in the media library, yes, and those links are directly indexed by search engines as well. Any file you upload to a site has its own unique address on the server, and when you insert the image into a post or page you’re actually just adding a reference to the actual file.

There is no way to prevent this, as this is how websites work, not just on WordPress.com but everywhere.
