Images not loading in Firefox and Safari for private site
-
I’ve made several changes to my site on WordPress.com. I upgraded from a free site to a premium and purchased a domain. I also decided to change the site to private. All of my followers were notified that they would need to request access to view the site. So far followers are requesting access and they can see the website and see the latest post in their reader, but I’m hearing from authorized viewers who visit the site when logged on to their account that the images for the posts are not loading. I’ve tested this myself as I have a second WordPress.com account I use for following several sites. I have access to my private site as a viewer through this secondary account. I can see the images in the post when viewing through the reader in the app. I can see the images when I load the website through Chrome, but not through Safari and Firefox. I tested the site on all three browsers on my iPad and Apple computer and the images only load in the Chrome browser. I’ve also loosened the restrictions in both Firefox and Safari browser but images still do not load. When the site was public, there was no issue with images loading. I would like to resolve this without having to switch my site back to public. Is this possible without scrapping the site and starting over?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I should also point out that I have already cleared browser caches and the images will still not load on the private site. They appear when I look at the site through the editor and through Chrome but not through Firefox and Safari.

I found the culprit regarding images not loading in Firefox and Safari on my private site. It had something to do with both browsers blocking “cross-site” cookies. I added the WordPress.com and bookofjon.org URL to the “exceptions” an now the site loads my images.

Hi there,
Thanks for confirming you were able to sort that out. If this comes up again feel free to let us know. It can also help with out troubleshooting if you list the URLs of the sites you are using. You indicate that you were testing with a second site but I only see one site under this account, for example.
Hope that helps. Please let us know if you have any more questions.

In response to other URL’s , I did not include any additional URL’s because I don’t have any other active websites. In the initial post I did mention I had a second WordPress.com “account”. That account does not currently have an active website associated with it. I only use it at this time to follow other WordPress.com sites including my private site that is on a separate account. I’m not sure why the switch to private made the site not load the images all of the sudden because when the site was public, it always loaded the images of my posts in all three browsers. At any rate I’m glad I figured it out. At least now I have a solution to suggest to my viewers who might choose to visit the site instead of reading the post through the WordPress.com reader. Hopefully there is something to gleam from this issue for anyone else who may have this problem, otherwise feel free to delete this entire thread.

Thanks for clarifying. When a site is set to private, the media on that site is also private, which sounds like it might have been the issue here. It’s difficult to check since it’s not happening anymore but if it comes up again we’re happy to investigate. Thanks!
