images on blog missing
-
The images on my blog only show up in the browser that I post them in, Firefox. When I have checked the blog on other browsers – Chrome, Safari, Opera, Vivaldi – the images do not appear. And when I share the posts on Twitter or Facebook even in Firefox, the images do not appear – in FB it is just a gray box. I can’t seem to find a fix for this anywhere and I don’t even really know what the problem is. I have had another WordPress blog for the past three years and have never had this problem.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi @johndamnseven, would you send a link to the site you need help with? The one listed here is private, so its images will only show up for logged-in sites members. They would not show on Facebook.
-
That’s very strange. I double-checked the privacy settings and the blog is set to public. Is there some other setting I need to change?
-
One thing I did notice – if I go into media, choose an image to edit, the edit area is blank – it does not show the image. But the image URL that is given does work if you go to the URL – the image is there.

Hi there,
I see that you exported the content recently over to this WordPress.com site. I am sure the source of the issue lies there. Is the site from which you exported the site from still online and public? If it is not available or currently private, if you can enable the site to be publicly online again – the media from the original site needs to be public in order for it to be successfully imported onto the new site. I’m wondering if the media wasn’t completely imported over.
Let me know if this may be the case. Thanks!

Very interesting. Some of it was imported from a Medium site and some of it was imported from another WordPress site that is definitely public – http://musicalthingarium.wordpress.com. Also, some of the images, like the most recent couple posts, are not imported at all.

Hmm…the images that are missing from the most recent posts – were they from your other WordPress.com site? Sometimes importing the content again will add the missing images that did not come over from the initial import. If you try that, let me know. I’m going to try something on my end if that doesn’t work.
Thanks,

When I try to see an image, e.g. habibi.jpg, I get a 403 error. “— 403: Access Denied — This file requires authorization: You must be logged in and a member of this blog.”

I get that message with Habibi when I’m signed out too – that one isn’t an imported image, but one that replaced an imported image. Does the image for the Mole Man post on May 18 2019 show up for anyone? It does for me when I am signed out – that is actually an imported image.
-
I’m not currently seeing any missing images, including at https://johndamnseven.wordpress.com/2019/05/18/viewers-discretion-mole-man/
With that said, the image is still hosted at Medium: https://cdn-images-1.medium.com/max/800/0*Kj8kTWGVpH1LyXhp.jpg
We have no control over that end of things. If Medium chooses to block or remove it, that’s up to them. Because of that, I recommend re-uploading the image to your site.

I just posted Test Post and uploaded an image from my desktop, but when I am signed out, I can’t see it. It isn’t from anywhere else online, it was created on my computer, so I don’t think the problem is that other sites are hosting the images.

Hi there,
Your site was still showing as private in our system, even though your settings showed it as being public. I set the site back to private, and then back to public, and now it’s showing all images for me logged out.
You might need to clear your browser cache for the changes to show on your end.
