Images showing as blank on admin and not displaying in the site

Hello all,
As mentioned above the images show as blank on the admin end and are also not displaying on the site. These are new images that are causing this issue. I have updated php to 7.1 and also deactivated all plugin and also went on theme such as tweenty fifteen and still no luck.
When i go on the admin area > media section and if i click on the empty thumbnail and click on edit image, i am able to see the image fine. I can also view it perfectly in the cpanel as well.
I am not being able to figure out whats causing this issue. I have tried php 5.5 and 5.6 as well. Please help -

What is the address of the site you need help with?
