I can’t figure out why my images are not showing on the main page just like the layout. The individual posts are fine

You’ll need to assign featured images that are at least 210 pixels wide to your posts:

That’s expected behavior — could you describe what exactly you’re trying to accomplish?

on my blog on top next to the motorcycle image you see the 7 links. If I click on on of those links it should bring up all post based on History for for example.
If you click on History under the red cycle it brings up all post with that tag, but not from the top list

I’m not seeing those links myself, did you remove them?
In general, you can add categories there by creating your own menu: http://en.support.wordpress.com/menus/
