import. original import exceeded max file size. New multi-part import fail
-
my blog is creativecopychallenge.wordpress.com. I imported my old creativecopychallenge.com site’s xml file, but didn’t realize the file was over the size limit. As a result only about half of my posts showed up in the new blog. i found an xml splitter file, saved the old site’s xml file down to two files sizes that were within the limit and imported both, hoping that doing so would supercede the older import and show all my files. Do I need to empty my blog, then do another import with the two files that are size appropriate or what? I’m at a loss. Thank you for your time.

Don’t use an xml splitter, that will break the file format.
Instead, export specific date ranges from the original blog.

Hey Mac. I broke my blog into two export files with a time range. I imported both, one at a time, but the previous partial install still shows. Do i have to empty my blog of all content, then reload the files?
Thanks for your time,

Yeah, that might be best. I can empty it for you. Did you only have imported posts there?

Yeah, at this point I don’t believe we have any other media that we need to concern ourselves with. The most import aspect of this is we have all of our posts there (I believe it was 280 instead of the 150 that are currently showing).
On my computer I have the two export date-range files that I believe I picked up all post and pages, so if you can clear it, I’ll try the two-part upload afterward. Thank you for your time.
