Import takes over one day

  Hi, import of my valid archive file takes very long. It continuosly shows the information that import is proceeding and nothing more – just that you will let me know when it ends. How long could it take if the archive is from past 16 years? A day, two? Or something has crashed?

  Hi there, how big is the import XML file? The maximum size that can be imported is around 15MB.

  I’ve also tagged this thread for Staff input. Thanks for your patience while they get back to you.

  Hi klanachowska,

  As @justjennifer mentioned, 15MB is the maximum support file size for imports so you’ll need to create several smaller .xml files and import them separately. Are you exporting from a WordPress.org site or another WordPress.com site?

  I’ve cancelled the current import on klanach.wordpress.com so you can try importing smaller files.

  If you still can, one thing that might help cut down the XML file size is deleting your site’s pending comments, trash and spam folders before you create your export XML.

  If you can’t create a new export XML, try an XML splitter app.
