Import Tool Not Working

  Hi,

  I’m trying to import a self-hosted wordpress blog to wordpress.com to archive the website once I stop paying for hosting, but I am getting an error message. The error says ‘This does not appear to be a WXR file, missing/invalid WXR version number’ but it is the file I got from my wordpress.org blog when I downloaded the export file. Anyone know what’s up?

  Hi there,

  Does the file you’re trying to import end in .xml or in .zip? If it ends in .zip, you need to first unzip the file, and then upload the .xml files inside of it.

  We also have a 15MB file size limit, so if any file is bigger than that you’ll need to split it into smaller pieces first before you can import them.
