Importing info from a non-blog host
-
I am trying to bring my blog posts back from another host but I did not export the file before I switched my domain from the WP.org site. I have access to the files through an FTP program, and I know I’m supposed to have an .xml file in order to import the info back to WP.com, but I don’t know how to turn what I have INTO an .xml

Hi there,
What is your domain, and where do you currently have it pointed? I see no domains connected to the WordPress.com site in your account, https://gwenerin.wordpress.com/ Or are you trying to import to another site?
Is your hosting plan still active? If you have access to the files via FTP only, it means it most likely is, as FTP is used to access files on a server, not files downloaded to your computer’s hard drive.
If your hosting plan at the old host is still active, and your site files still available on their servers, the simplest solution here is to reconnect the domain to bring the site back online, export your content, and only disconnect the domain again once you’ve finished importing that file to your new site. Your hosting provider might also be able to bring your site back online on a temporary domain to let you access it again.
