Importing my Wix Site

    Hello, I’m trying to import my current Wix website to a WordPress theme. When I enter the URL however, I get an error message and not of the information migrates. I haven’t upgraded to a business plan yet, but plan too, is that what’s holding up the import or are there other steps I need to take to populate the site with my current Wix information? Thanks so much for any guidance..

    Hi there,

    To what WordPress.com site are you trying to import, and what is the URL of your Wix site?

    What is the exact error message you’re seeing?

    A Business Plan is not required to import content from Wix.

    I’m trying to import the site to ffgw.wordpress.com (still working on the design and not ready to turn off the old site for the new one yet), and the URL of the wix site is http://www.ffgw.org. The error message is ” It looks like we’re unable to reach that website address at this time. (ID: 0bd985b4-8cf8-477e-b0c5-177ad29b0a5b)” I tried again to import the site just now to no avail. Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

    Thanks for that. We’re trying to check our logs for this and I’m not finding anything with ffgw.wordpress.com for the past 72 hours. I noticed you have another similar site, and tried checking for that one too — but had no luck there either.

    We’re going to loop in our developers to see if they can help us sort this out. Thanks in advance for your patience.

    Actually – I checked a few more things as I was preparing to report. Are you by chance using caching a proxy or some other similar service with the site? I just tried testing on my end, and the system doesn’t seem to recognize it as a Wix site. I looked at its IP address and it seems to be associated with Amazon.

    Thank you so much for your patience, the wix site I thought we had access too was a test site, and I was able to import the test pages.. Is it possible to import a blog .org site for the upgraded WordPress site, and if so what information is needed for that? Thanks again for your help and patience.

    Would you mind clarifying what you mean by “Is it possible to import a blog .org site for the upgraded WordPress site”?

    If you mean is it possible to import a Wix site into an upgraded WordPress.com site, then that’s the same process https://en.support.wordpress.com/import/import-from-wix/ :)
