Inactivating a non-profit service organization website account
-
Our non-profit service organization has an OLD word press website that has not active since 2015. We would like the account deleted or inactivated so it is not confusing to have the old site and the new site both representing our club. No one in the club has has the username or password or any access at all. We think the person who orginally had access has died. We do not have a receipt or transaction record. We have nothing. I need help troubleshooting this, please. Thanks in advance.

Since the original administrator is deceased and you lack any account credentials or financial records, the standard automated recovery tools will not work. In this case, you must pursue a Manual Account Recovery through the WordPress.com ‘Concierge’ or Support Staff. You should gather official proof of your organization’s identity—such as a government-issued non-profit registration, tax-exempt status documents, or a formal letter on organization letterhead—and contact the WordPress.com Terms of Service or Privacy team. While they generally do not grant access to a third party to manage the old account, they can often ‘Archive’ or ‘Deactivate’ the site if you can legally prove that your organization owns the name and brand associated with the domain, effectively removing the confusing public presence of the 2015 version.
