incoming gmail email server stopped working

Unable to receive any emails since Thursday through (email visible only to moderators and staff), mu business email address. Google said I had to update my MX records to continue getting emails. Domain creator Wild West Domains told me to contact WordPress.com to resolve this. They told me something was recently cancelled.

Your domain alanjfieldbooks.com has expired, and so you lost your rights to it. That is why the email address doesn’t work anymore.
I can see you have just registered another domain, ala-nj-field-books.com. Where you trying to restore alanjfieldbooks.com instead? If so, let us know ASAP; we may still be able to cancel that new domain and restore the old one before it enters the Redemption stage (at that point, an additional fee would be required). Ok, I have canceled the undesired domain (but did not issue a refund as the $18 is now used to recover the desired domain) and restored https://alanjfieldbooks.com/

Thank you. Please let me know when you have recovered the old domain and any instructions I need to do to reinstate it with gmail, or if I need not do anything but wait.

Yes, if the domain did not exist, there would have been no way for emails sent towards it to be routed to an inbox.
