Incorrect Blog Title/Domain

  My blog and domain registered completely incorrectly. I own my own domain. Now the blog has some ridiculous, redundant name. Can I just scrap the whole thing?

  Yes, but then you can’t use your own domain. You lose everything. You need an underlying URL of the format whatever.wordpress.com in order to attach a custom domain to it. http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/

  Ok, so how do I repair the mess? I read the link (thank you!) and I see that if I want to use my own domain and drop the wordpress.com, there is an $18 upgrade, which is fine, but how do I change that?

  Change what? The URL? Just register a different URL if you really desperately want to. But there is no need. Just go to the dashboard of that blog, purchase the upgrade following the instructions, and away you go. Nobody sees the old ugly URL.
