Inoperative "insert link" command in post editor

Hi Bo,
It looks like you’re using the Firefox browser to edit your posts, is that right? I just tested this in Firefox and didn’t run into any trouble with it, so it would help to get some additional details about what’s going wrong for you.
Can you send me a link to a post you tried to edit where this happened?
Also, can you please confirm that you’re highlighting the text you want to turn into a link before clicking the “Insert Link” button, as mentioned on the Links page?

I figured out what I was doing wrong by realizing that any http prefixed line is automatically turned into a link when published. It has taken me a few days to get the hang of the way WordPress does things, but I am starting to get in the swim. Thanks for your reply. Bo
