insert a web stats aplication

    I am trying to insert a web stats aplications from web sats, but is in html code, they give the instructions where give the html code to copy and paste in the blog page here is the instructions :

    click here to open a new window containing the Web-Stat code to be added to your site
    with your mouse, highlight the code
    press the Ctrl key and at the same time the C key (this will copy the highlighted text in memory)
    Log into your WordPress account
    In the menu bar click on ‘Presentation > Theme Editor’
    In the right-hand-side column click on ‘Footer’
    insert the cursor just above the </body> tag
    press the Ctrl key and at the same time the V key (this will paste the code at the cursor location)
    Click on ‘Update File’

    That code is for self-hosted versions of wordpress, and will not work here at wordpress.COM. We cannot modify the underlying theme files since this is a multi-user platform and we all share the same underlying files.

    If you are hosted here at wordpress.COM the code that you will have to use will have to be straight HTML and it will have to be placed into a text widget.
