insert favicon, no editor

  Sorry to bother you. I want to change the favicon. I found some online tutorials how to do it, but they all refer to the Editor which I supposingly have to use to insert the faviovon in the header.
  BUT I do not have the Editor that all the tutorials show (within the Design Section).
  What’s wrong here? Do I have to pay oder update to have that Editor option?
  Can you help me to place the favicon? Please, I need a real anser, no links to existing FAQs.
