inserting a media file, but it will not link to the file

I’m trying to attach an mp3 file, with a link for my readers to download it. i have done this a million times, but this time, linking to the media file is simply inserting the audio player, the same as if i had linked it to “none”.

When inserting the audio, make sure that you choose the correct “Link To” option: http://en.support.wordpress.com/audio/

ummmmm… yes i have done that. i appreciate you get a lot of idiots asking stupid questions, but this is a site problem. as i said, i have done this before many many times, but this time when i select link to: “media file”, it inserts the audio player, as if i had selected link to: “none”. but i have selected “media file”. hence my help request.

Ah, that is a problem, sorry about that!
We’re looking into it, but for now you can get the file URL from the Media section of your blog’s Dashboard, then just insert it as a normal link.
