install wordpress without conflict with the old website

I’ve already have a host (i don’t know the detail, I need to discover it) with a domain and a website already made, but I’d like to change it with a wordpress one. Unfortunately I have absolutely no idee to how made it.
My idea was to create a “parallel” website with wordpress (so with a different domain, like a free one) and when it will complete, pass it on the old domain and lost the old website.
Can anyone help me step by step? please?The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Do you mean that you want to set up a WordPress.com site and then use it with your existing domain? Or that you want to set up a WordPress.org site on your existing webhosting space and then transfer your domain to it?
