  I would like to install the IndieGoGo widget but can’t seem to find info on custom widgets.

  It’s not possible to install custom widgets or plugins here at WordPress.com.

  You can paste HTML tags into a text widget:
  http://en.support.wordpress.com/widgets/text-widget/

  However, you’ll first need to make sure to only use allowed HTML tags:
