Installing New Themes

  installing new themes. I see all the instructions to install themes. But the option within the menu “Install Themes” does NOT exist.

  Please help.

  Themes can’t be uploaded to WordPress.com. That’s a feature of self-hosted blogs through WordPress.org. You can find out more about customizing your blog’s appearance here: http://en.support.wordpress.com/themes/adding-new-themes/

  On WordPress.com we offer over 210 themes, both free themes and premium themes created by leading theme companies. You can view all of our themes at http://theme.wordpress.com/ and filter them by specific criteria under “Find a Theme”.

  The theme I have been trying to upload is a featured theme I found on wordpress.org, which I have downloaded but don’t know how to apply to my wordpress blog. Within my dashboard, there is not an option to install the new themes that I downloaded here:http://wordpress.org/themes/

  Excuse my ignorance, but do I have to change my account from a WordPress.com to a WordPress.org in order to do this?

  Thank you for your help in advance, I am still navigating myself around the wordpress world.

  WordPress.com and WordPress.org are actually two different entities — you can learn about the differences here: WordPress.com and WordPress.org

  When your blog is hosted here at WordPress.com, there isn’t an option to upload/install themes from other sources. Instead, you can choose from the 200+ themes in our theme showcase here: http://theme.wordpress.com/

  If you decide to set up a self-hosted WordPress.org blog, you can install any of the themes found in the WordPress.org themes directory here: http://wordpress.org/themes/
