hey! we are trying to start a blog with the name datter. we want the name to be : datter.wordpress.com or something like it , NOT datterdotblog like it is now.
can you help? willing to pay premium, just need the name to be correct first :) is it possible to solely get the name datter.com or datter.blog without the wordpress-name?

To use the Custom-Domain, without ending .wordpress.com, you can do that by upgrading to one of those WordPress.com paid Plans.
Each plan comes with free “domain credit” which you can either use to register a new domain or Map a domain you already own for free.For more information on domains please visit:

Yes, if someone has not already taken the domain name you want to use, then you can register it.
You can register domains with any of the extensions listed here through your WordPress.com

https://datter.wordpress.com/ had already been used previously on WordPress.com, and deleted by its owner. Deleted WordPress.com addresses are not made available for use by someone else later on, so you won’t be able to use that free address at all.

So a custom domain would be the only option to use that name here. You can search for the domain at My Site ->Domains ->Add to see which options are available.
