"invitation not sent, the user has blocked invite emails" error message

My colleague is trying to add me to his blog but keeps getting this message:
“invitation not sent, the user has blocked invite emails”
However I’ve unticked the box in notifications so i should be able to receive emails.

That’s strange. What is the URL of the blog you are being invited to join please?
