Invite ‘not valid’?

    I have been trying to add a new author to my blog. I have sent her the invite and she has accepted it. When she accepted it, she was informed that the invite was ‘not valid’ and that it had ‘already been used.’ This doesn’t make sense since the blog shows that her invitation is still pending and she is not listed as an author on the blog. How can I fix this? Thank you!

    Hi @ami7040118, think she’d be willing to troubleshoot with us? If she’s willing to respond here in this thread we can verify her email address and username and what not all at once, too.

    If she isn’t, could you let us know the email address so we know which pending invite is in question? Also, can you encourage her to go to https://wordpress.com/me/account and tell you what username is showing there? Is that the one you invited?

    The user is PatriciaJordan1961. I tried over and over again to invite her via patric5 AT pdx.edu. This AM, I revoked the invitation and re-invited her with a different email that goes to the same inbox: patricia.m.jordan AT pdx.edu . This initially seemed to work. She was able to accept the invitation, see the blog, and write something. But when she went to publish the post, she got the message again that the invite was invalid. Her post was not published, but her account appears as an author on my team.

    This morning I heard something similar from another author who had the same problem that PatriciaJordan1961 had this AM. That user is gabrielbb55, and the email for that one is gabrielbb55 AT gmail.com. Like PatriciaJordan1961, gabrielbb55 is still listed as an author on the blog’s team.

    Hi there,

    The reason PatriciaJordan1961 is unable to publish on your site is because her WordPress.com account is not activated yet. She is correctly added to your site as an author, but she won’t be able to publish anything until she verifies her own account via the email we sent her when she first created it.

    If she has any trouble with that, please ask her to open her own support request at https://wordpress.com/help/contact so we can help with that.

    Our logs show gabrielbb55‘s account was only verified 12 hours ago, so they would also have experienced issues prior to that. If they’re still having trouble posting to your site, ask them to try clearing their browser cache, and to open their own support ticket with us if that doesn’t help.
