Is creating a blog here like creating a content-based website hosted elsewhere?

  I would like to create a content-oriented blog where eventually I will be able to sell my own books, etc. But I want to make sure I will be able to be found by the search engines. Will they be able to search my blog? Is creating a blog here similar to creating a content website as far as my ability to monetize it?

  Also, if I join your $99/year program, will that make is easier for me to make this like a “regular” website, with the above attributes? Finally, if I pay for your program, is that for one blog or can I create as many as I like?

  As far as monetization goes, outside advertising isn’t allowed here at WordPress.com, but we are launching WordAds, which is something you might want to look into:
