Is my new blog at risk of being shut down one day?

  I just started my little blog here on the free wordpress.com. I only need a simple and hobby blog so its enough. But Ive been reading scary stories about people having their blogs shut down without warning, and wondered if having a paid account will make sure this never happens?
  I can’t really afford it, even the cheapest one (£2.50 a month) but if it ensures I never get shut out it could be worth it. Any thoughts? I dont want to go to all this trouble and one day ‘poof’ its gone.

  As long as your site (not sure about your username though) doesn’t contravene the WordPress.com Terms of Service https://en.wordpress.com/tos/ then it should remain on the Interweb forever or until the end of the world/the martians invade whichever comes first.

  Buying an upgrade plan is no proof against being suspended for a violation of the Terms of Service that you agreed to when you signed up.

  I see in this now-closed thread that you are just as surprised by your username appearing in these forums as we are. Is it possible that you are not logged in with the correct username account?
