Is opposite autoredirection from domain.com to domain.wordpress.com possible?

    I was wondering if the autoredirection from a domain.wordpress.com to a newly subscribed domain.com is also true in the opposite direction if the subscription expires.

    I mean, let’s say i have domain.wordpress.com and i buy the full domain to have the url domain.com with the annual subscription.

    I know that by typing domain.wordpress.com then an automatic redirection to domain.com will be applied without my intervention to keep the old links provided in the past to third parties still valid

    However, i was curious to know if the opposite is also true when a subscription expires and i don’t renew it

    For example, let’s say that i forget to renew for a certain period my domain.com so that it will turn again to the old one, which is domain.wordpress.com

    There are external websites with the link to my domain in form of domain.com rather than domain.wordpress.com, because by the time i have bought the subscription, i started to provide third parties with the new link format

    However, this could be a dangerous move….Infact the question is, should i ever stop the subscription for the domain.com form and switch back to domain.wordpress.com, will these third parties be automatically redirected to the domain.wordpress.com url while trying to access the domain.com url, or will they receive an error of website not found until i renew subscription again?

    Depending by your answer, i was trying to understand if when people ask me to give them the link to my website, is more convenient to always give them the domain.wordpress.com form, or the domain.com.

    If the opposite redirection is working even after a subscription expires, giving the domain.com is fine, otherwise, probably it would be always better to give people the domain.wordpress.com, so that just in case one stops the subscription, the external links will still work
