Is there anyway to disable the ability to download videos in Videopress?
-
TLDR; I like using videopress over YouTube. However, when people can just right click and save my content, it’s a bit frustrating. I’m looking at switching from this as I can’t have people downloading my videos, many of them being interviews that my team has conducted.
Is there a way to get around this?

Everything you put on the internet cannot be fully ptotected against downloading ior copying. You can try to make it difficult but there wil always be a way around.

Hi there,
Disabling the Share link on your videos will remove the download option:
You need to edit the media file in the media library in WP-Admin to do this.
However, as @staartmees pointed out above, if something is online it can be copied. While you can prevent direct downloads of your videos via the VideoPress settings, there are many browser extensions available that will allow people to still download your videos – in fact, I read a while ago that the Chrome browser on mobile is going to get that option built in to download and save HTML5 videos on the device for offline viewing.
There is nothing you can do to prevent that, and you’ll have that problem no matter what service you use to host your videos – if a video file is playable in a web browser, it can be downloaded by someone who knows how to search Google for the instructions to do it.
