Is this right/
-
The font color on my blog is a dark gray which is ok but not the best for a white background. I’d like to change it to black. Am I understanding correctly that in order to change the color of the font I have to pay $15 a year?! I could get a website for less than that. Surely I must be misunderstanding this. If so, can someone direct me to where I can change the font color.
Thank you.

Hi Wakar. You can change the font on each post for free, but manually:
http://wpbtips.wordpress.com/2009/07/11/formatting-text-pt-5/Another free alternative is to change for another theme of course.
Otherwise, if not being able to edit the CSS stylesheet for free is a dealbreaker, there are indeed other hosting providers you can choose from (some of them are even free).

Thank you for the info. Much appreciated.
And yeah, maybe it’s time to check out other providers. That way I’ll have more to choose from theme wise too.
Thanks again.

If you are expecting to be able to click a button and change fonts throughout your wordpress.COM blog then it’s not that easily done. There are 4 ways to change fonts on wordpress.com blogs.
(1) Changing font colors and size on posts or pages either post by post or page by page http://en.support.wordpress.com/editors/font-size-color/
(2) Changing font colors using the #4 icon http://en.support.wordpress.com/visual-editor/#row-2
(3) Changing font families using TypeKit Fonts http://typekit.assistly.com/customer/portal/articles/6840-using-typekit-with-wordpress-com
(4) Changing font families, colors & sizes by purchasing an annually renewable CSS editing upgrade and doing the work yourself
