Issue with "https:// redirection" in *.wordpress.com blogs
-
Now all of the wordpress.com blogs have moved to SSL connection. I have some doubts regarding this change…
My first problem is with the http:// vs. https:// debate and how search engines take it. My blog, http://wallofwonders.wordpress.com/ is in Google’s search index for about 4 years…
Now if it changes to https://wallofwonders.wordpress.com/ , will it appear to be a new address to Google? Does it have to start increasing its search rankings all over again? (Because I have heard that perhaps Google takes the http:// and https:// domains differently.)Second issue: Backlinks!
My blog has backlinks from various sites under http:// domain address. Will those backlinks nullify in Google’s perspective if my new address is https://?
(I know that all those links now redirect to https:// ultimately. But will a search engine be able to understand that both are the same site.)Thirdly, will my blog suffer in Google’s ranking due to frequent redirection to https://, primarily because Google does not like redirecting addresses.
Sorry, if some of these doubts are very silly. I just like to keep my knowledge a little up-to-date so I asked it here.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Part of the switch to https is being driven by Google, they are starting to downgrade sites that do not support https
The https has been ongoing for some time for sites ending in “wordpress.com” so Google and other search engines should have your site indexed by https
Sites that are domain mapped currently do not support https, so my site is downgraded slightly for https

Yes, the Google index is updated to https://*.wordpress.com…
My only doubt remains about the redirection part. Does this frequent redirection has any effect on the blog. (Because I have always previously used the http:// way to link to my blog.)

Hi there!
The switch to https:// should have no affect on your sites ranking with Google or with links back to your site that show up in Google. It shouldn’t penalize you in anyway.
