issues attaching child as page to parent page
-
When i attempt to add a page to another as a child page attached to a parent page , the parent page is not showing in my list of pages .In fact there are quite a few missing pages from the list of possible parent pages. This was never a problem before , but quite recently the layout has changed on my edit page. I have no idea why this has suddenly happened. Anyone’s ideas or input is appreciated.

Where are you listing the pages? Could you provide an example or two of a missing parent page?
-
The parent pages are not actually missing at all .It is only when I go into “edit” and I attempt to attach a page to a parent page and number it in the sequence how it will appear as a dropdown …I find that the parent page is not in the list of pages which I want to attach to …. for example I want to attach https://paddykool2.wordpress.com/exhibition-artwork-for-author-john-oconnor/ as a “child” to ….https://paddykool2.wordpress.com/paddykool-studios-productions/
but the parent page is not on the list of pages in the “edit” list on the right -hand side .I wish i could provide two screenshots but it is beyond me to paste them into this answer.

You may add a “modlook” tag to the sidebar to call for staff attention, and then wait for a staff member to respond. Hopefully one of them will be able to determine the cause of the issue you report, and resolve it .

I have no idea what a “modlook” is I’m afraid or how to attach it to the sidebar of this topic , I’m afraid….i would appreciate any help on any of this.
-
Type the word “modlook” into the tags box in the right sidebar of this forum thread, and then click the “Add” button. That will call for staff attention.

@ paddykool2,
Do you know that at Edit Page > Page Attributes > Parent, you may scroll down to display more pages than display immediately when you click on the arrow button? It only shows 20 pages at a time. -
I used to be able to scroll down and access every page until about a week ago but the layout of the edit page suddenly went through a change overnight .the page attributes moved from the right hand side to the left .The look of the page changed and it only displays a sample of pages now. When i scroll through them to the end there is no arrow to extend any more pages .I have no idea why these changes were made but some things that worked perfectly well on my site for this past few years are giving bother now. It is somewhat erratic….

Yes. I was able to reproduce this result. You’re referring to the newer “beep beep boop” page editor, which I ordinarily never visit, preferring to stick with the classic page editor which has worked just fine for the past 7 years.
Just ran a test on the new blue deaditor, and discovered that the “Parent Page” drop-down menu contains only 6 of the 796 pages on my site. Not a very good percentage, approximately 3/4 of 1%. I agree that this is a problem, though my solution is to redirect the new page editor to the classic page editor.
-
Thanks for your input but how do I get back to the editor that i have used for years and away from this “beep beep boop” thing.I don’t believe thta I voluntarily moved away from the classic editor. this new beep beep boop thing appeared of its own volition . how do i go about making a choice like that?

Hi there,
You can use this link to start a new post on your site in the WP Admin editor:
https://paddykool2.wordpress.com/wp-admin/post-new.php
And this link to create a new page in the WP Admin editor:
https://paddykool2.wordpress.com/wp-admin/post-new.php?post_type=page
To get there from https://wordpress.com/ you can click on “My Sites” in the upper left, and then click on “WP Admin” in the sidebar to open the WP Admin dashboard. You can view your existing posts under Posts > All Posts, and your existing pages under Pages > All Pages. You can click on a post or page title there to open it in the editor.
Our team is also aware of the issue with selecting parent pages in the newer editor, and we’re investigating a solution for that. Thanks for reporting the issue!

Many thanks for your input.I have since discovered that this new beep beep boot screen is causing much distress all over…there is also a solution called Tampermonkey too which seems to work. I’ll get to it right away.Thankfully someone out there is listening …i was going insane !

@ paddykool2,
You’re welcome.
I’m using a script added to the Greasemonkey 3.2 Firefox add-on. I’ll see if I can find a link to one of the forum topics, or an external article, listing various options for redirection from the new post/page to the classic versions.
