Issues in setting up wordpress DNS server name in my hosting

  • Unknown's avatar

I was about to update the DNS server to point my domain to WordPress DNS servers. Using a “A ” register I’m able to include an IP address only. Currently I have the following configuration:
www rafael-castro.com Type: A 192.0.80.93 (which is the IP address of NS1.WORDPRESS.COM.

Is there another way I can set this up? Should I use another information. Appreciate the support! Rafael.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi Rafael,

The best way to map a domain to a WordPress.com blog is to set your domain’s nameservers to the following values:

    • NS1.WORDPRESS.COM
    • NS2.WORDPRESS.COM
    • NS3.WORDPRESS.COM

We have more information about that here: Map an Existing Domain

However, if your registrar requires that you create A records, instead of changing your domain’s nameservers, please note that our IPs change over time. Because of this, your domain might stop working at some point in the future. If that happens, please get in touch with us to find out the most current IPs and then update your A records accordingly.

If you still want to go ahead and map your domain using A records, please be sure to create at least two, pointing to two different IPs from the list below:

    • 192.0.81.250
    • 66.155.11.238
    • 66.155.9.238
    • 76.74.254.123
    • 192.0.80.250
    • 76.74.254.120

Please let me know if I can provide any further help with this. :)

    Hi Rachel,
Even using the “A” with IP address above I’m still not able to reach my page with my own domain. I have also tried use CNAME without sucess.

Current DNS table info is listed below:

    www .rafael-castro.com A 192.0.80.93
    www .rafael-castro.com CNAME NS1.WORDPRESS.COM.

I do appreciate your help. Thank you!

    Hi Rafael,

For your domain to work at WordPress.com, you will need to point the root domain (rafael-castro.com) to WordPress.com, not just the “www” subdomain. To do that, you will need to change your domain’s nameservers themselves, or the A records for the root domain. (The records you mentioned will only change the “www” subdomain.)

The exact steps to change your domain’s nameservers depend on your domain registrar, and they can provide specific help and instructions if you have questions about how to do that. It looks like your domain is registered at Enom. You can find the Enom support page with more information about changing your domain’s nameservers here: http://www.enom.com/help/faq_dns.asp

Please let me know if you have any questions about that. :)
