italics lost in page display and invisible text input in text box on edit posts

    Recently,
    I changed my theme from Matala to Twenty Seven. Looks good. Everything is reformatted fine except 2 things:

    #1 Italics entered in the edit page/post text box doesn’t stay when it shows on the Webpage. Just shows regular, non-italicized. I don’t know why my set up is different. Can’t find this addressed in their tutorials.

    #2 The text I enter in the text box (in edit posts) is invisible! I can only see its there if I highlight it, but then can’t tweak it. There’s no menu bar to change text color, etc. like there is on pages. It is there though because I can see it after publishing on my blog. It actually displays fine. Since I can’t see what I’m entering, I have to type it in a separate word doc and copy paste it into text without being able to tweak it since I can’t see it-only on blog after I publish it. There must be a way to fix this-I just can’t find anything about it in tutorials. -I like the reformat otherwise and wish to keep it, but it has to be functional.

    I should also share that on post edits I only can choose the option HTML not visual to see text, so when I highlight my text in the box to be able to see it, it only becomes visible while highlighted when I’m in HTML mode only.

    I figured it out-in menu on left, go to personal settings. Select third option down, visual editor. Check it to “disable the visual editor”. Then the text shows in black in my post edits. Also, pages now displays the italics as I directed it to.
    The only problem is that all of my text (in editing text box) displays only as HTML mode. It does not give me an option to see it in visual mode-like other themes did. I wonder if there’s a solution to this dilemma as well?

  • That is rather odd, the issue you’re having.

    Everything is in HTML now because you’ve disabled the Visual editor.

    As for the issue itself, can you please tell us which browser (and version of) you’re using?
