I’ve already developed a website and want to move it to wordpress.com business plan, what should I do?
-
I’ve never used WordPress.com hosting solutions before and I’m a bit confused at how to proceed in order to migrate my website here.
Useful information about my website:
– I already have developed a website;
– I already have a domain;
. I’ll be getting the Business Plan.My question:
– How do I migrate my website to the wordpress.com business plan?
– Should I point the A records and then create an account or the other way around?
– Can I use the All in one WP migration to import the website?Thanks in advance!

H @carinalvesp, you’ve got the right idea. Since you already have a developed site, I recommend purchasing the Business Plan first, then installing a plugin here to migrate your content.
Once everything is moved over properly, you can decide whether to use our name servers, transfer the domain, etc. And you’re welcome to discuss those options with support as well.
You’ll have direct support access once you have the plan.
So just reiterating, here’s my recommendation:
1) Buy the plan
2) Migrate the content
3) Decide how to point the domain
Hoping that helps!

Hi, is it possible to migrate de content without an already pointed domain?
Would I do it from the wordpress.com panel? Instead of the usual wordpress backoffice?
Thanks again!

Hi there,

You don’t have to point your domain to us right away, no. When you create a site with us we’ll provide you with a free WordPress.com URL to use while you get things set up, and then you can switch your domain over to us only at the end once you’re ready.

If you only want to move across your posts and pages, you can use a regular WordPress export file that you can get at WP-Admin ->Tools ->Export on the existing site, and import it on our end at My Site ->Tools ->Import.
If you want to attempt a full-site migration, in other words, migrating your theme and plugins you already have set up as well, you’ll need to use a plugin. But due to the way in which WordPress.com’s hosting works, there are specific steps that need to be followed for that to work, so after upgrading to the Business Plan, please start a live chat support session at https://wordpress.com/help/contact so we can guide you through that process.

Hi, that’s great.
I normally use the All-in-One Wp Migration plugin, does it usually work in wordpress.com?
Thanks again!

Hi there,
I do not see why it wouldn’t work if you have the Business Plan which enables plugin usage. But, if you have any questions or issues regarding the use of that particular plugin, you’ll need to reach out to contact
https://wordpress.org/support/plugin/all-in-one-wp-migration/
Also, once you have purchased the Business Plan, you’ll have access to live chat, and still will be more than happy to assist you with anything you need:
