  I bought a domain name through inmotion hosting over a year ago. I let it expire, I canceled my subscription with them today, and would like to have jenabodell.com as my wordpress address. They said it still belongs to me, but that it will be publicly available after 10/29/12. I can still log into inmotion as well. Since I still own it, can I have the domain name attached to my wordpress?

  Please let me know if you need more information. I’m a little confused over the whole thing, but would like to get it resolved asap.

  If a domain name reverts to the wild it can be bought by anyone and held for hostage – there is an entire industry that does that

  WordPress.COM is not set up to accept incoming domain name transfers

  Your best bet (and safest) is to renew with your existing registrar – then if you don’t like them for some reason you can transfer to another registrar after 60 days (internet fraud prevention rules)
