Jetpack blocking my work website
-
Why has Jetpack blocked me logging into my work website this afternoon???
-
Hi @pennysullivan56, did you have several failed logins from that address? If so it might have been blocked, but you can mark your IP address as safe if you’d like.
Go to My Sites → Settings → Security → Prevent brute force login attacks.
Remember your username might be different from your regular wp-admin login, as it’s a separate account.
Also, if you did not have several bad login attempts, is anyone else on your network trying to gain access to the site?

Thanks. I was able to access work fine this morning. Then jet pack suddenly blocked it. IT contacted our provider (realsmart) who whitelisted the IP. I can now login again. Really annoying it happened. I’ve not been on this site in ages and I was surprised it could have the ability to block me accessing things for work!

It sounds like you are needing help with the Jetpack plugin, but have landed on the support forum for WordPress.com sites instead. If you see this come up again can you please report the issue to Jetpack support by asking here?
https://wordpress.org/support/plugin/jetpack/
Since they are familiar with the plugin functionality (which is different from what we offer on WordPress.com) they would be best able to help. Thanks!

Thanks. I did contact jet pack yesterday. Still waiting for a reply. Work managed to get a response. I am not IT literate and was surprised that something linked to a totally different website would be able to affect my work site. Fortunately I’m friends with IT technician so I had to use WhatsApp to contact him about not being able to log on anymore. Not called worldwide web for nothing, is it….
