  the W3 totalcache plug-in is NOT installed

  have the latest version of WP & JP installed (rechecked just now)

  Would you please try temporarily deactivating all other plugins to rule-out a plugin conflict?

  Theme functions can also interfere like plugins, so if that doesn’t work, try temporarily switching to the Twenty Eleven theme.

  I just now “fixed” the problem by re-installing/activating the plug-in…same version.
