Jetpack Plugin not working – connection needs reset
-
Hi, I deactivated the Jetpack plugin in an attempt to solve another issue and when trying to reactivate it, I get error code 401. Upon talking to my hosting’s support I was told to reach out to the plugin support to clear the connection. My website is https://everythingital.com
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Since your host has already confirmed their servers aren’t blocking the connection, the 401 error is almost certainly caused by an outdated security token stored in your site’s database. To fix this, you need to perform a ‘clean’ disconnect: instead of just deactivating, go to Plugins > Installed Plugins, deactivate Jetpack, and then delete it entirely. This often triggers WordPress to clear the temporary connection data. Before reinstalling, it’s a good idea to log into your WordPress.com account, go to Settings > Site Management, and ‘remove’ everythingital.com from the list of connected sites if it still appears there. Once both sides are ‘cleared,’ install a fresh copy of Jetpack from the plugin repository and try the activation again—this should force the system to generate a brand-new, valid 401-authorized token.

I’m also facing the same 401 error after a fresh reactivation. My host suggested a connection reset as well. Could a moderator please clear the connection for my site so I can sync it again? Thanks!

Hi, when I go to try to delete the plugin I get this error “Deletion failed: There has been a critical error on this website.Learn more about troubleshooting WordPress.” but when I refresh jetpack is gone from the plugin list like it’s been deleted, but the same problem still persists when I attempt to reinstall and reactivate it.
I also am not sure how to get to the site management section you mentioned. -
