Jetpack/WP for Android incompatible with Suffusion theme

    Hello,

When attempting to activate the Jetpack plugin or use the WordPress for Android application with my website, htttp://www.toastology.com/, I receive a HTTP 500 [site inaccessible] error, when using the Suffusion theme. I do not get this error when I use the default 2011 theme.

    I am running WordPress 3.4.1.

  • You actually don’t need Jetpack to use the app, but if you want to use Jetpack, you should only need to activate it once.

Once you have it activated with Twenty Eleven, you should be able to switch back to Suffusion.

Macmanx — I understand that these are two different programs. It just happened that I downloaded both today while working on my blog, and I only noticed that they were from the same company while debugging.

Activating JetPack with 2011 and then switching back to Suffusion breaks the site until I deactivate JetPack.

This work-around would not let me blog via my phone using the WordPress for Android app, as that app cannot push data to my site while using Suffusion.

  • Do you mean that the Android app cannot publish to your blog, even with Jetpack deactivated, as long as you’re using the Suffusion theme?

Yes. Attempting to use the Android app to connect to my blog gives the 500 error while Suffusion is the theme.

A second error was later discovered, that JetPack is incompatible with Suffusion.

While collecting data to report this to the Suffusion developers (http://aquoid.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=12338), I realized that these two products were both made by your company.

  • Ah, ok, this definitely sounds like a conflict with some of the theme’s functions.

The Android app really only connects to xml-rpc.php, which is pretty basic and should never trigger any 500 errors.

I recommend working on this with the theme’s developer.
