Just need to make sure I am not violating WP

    Hi everyone,

    I bought a domain name around 10 months ago, demo.website and I was thinking of a Multisite install so users can create their own website. I uploaded quite a few free themes from the WP backend.

    The process is, visitor creates a website on demo.website, they then go in the backend and choose a theme, they create a normal website.

    Simple right? Well I just want to make sure that I am not potentially putting myself in s**t by violating WP and taking themes! I will of course, be saying that I am not endorsed with WordPress but I support them fully.

    The thing is, the domain name is coming up for renewal and want to see if I should ditch and sell or keep.

    This is the support forums for WordPress.com. We are a hosting provider, and our terms only apply to sites that are hosted on our servers, which your site is not.

    The WordPress software you’re using on that site is open source, and as such can be used by anyone for any purpose. There are no terms that govern the use of that software except for the GPL licence under which that software is issued. More info here:

    Any theme or plugin listed on the WordPress.org directories would also be GPL.

    So the only conditions you really need to worry about are those of your hosting provider, and/or your ISP. And possibly your domain registrar.
