Lack of ability to modify pages with resized pictures and added text with hyperlinks. Ugh

    Cannot add text to a photo or resize a photo on wordpress.com or add a widget to the photo with my own text that will direct readers to a certain page.

    Hi there,

    What do you mean “add text to a photo”? If you insert a photo in a post or page and then click on it a little toolbar will appear. Click on the speech bubble icon in that toolbar, and you’ll be able to add a caption to the picture.

    To resize a picture, click the + and – icons on the toolbar.

    I’m not sure what you mean by adding a widget to the photo. Widgets can only be added to widget areas supported by your theme, not inside posts or pages, or to individual media files.
