Layout only appears on home page
-
I’m using the Twenty Eleven theme. The layout is set to ‘Content on left.’ But when I add a widget (such as Recent Posts) it only appears on the home page. I’ve tried modifying the widget visibility settings, but nothing seems to work.
Thanks for your help.

Hi,
On the Twenty Eleven theme, the custom page templates may override the chosen default layout on static pages. Either that, or perhaps the chosen default layout only affects the posts page. From the Twenty Eleven theme guide:
In addition to the default layouts Twenty Eleven also features 2 custom page templates. Either one will take a normal WordPress page and transform the layout. The Sidebar page template is the simpler of the two. It simply adds a sidebar to your page. The Showcase page has more features.

Thanks for your help. I think because I’m on the free plan, I don’t have access to custom templates.
This page:
https://twentyelevendemo.wordpress.com/a-page-with-a-sidebar/
says“Twenty Eleven leaves sidebars off of posts and pages to highlight your content and proudly feature the magic that happens between your writing and your visitor’s comments. That said, sometimes you just want a sidebar on your pages. Selecting the custom Sidebar Template for your page will do just that. “
But in my case, there is no custom Sidebar Template. Widgets placed in the sidebar appear ONLY on the home page.
Too bad. Guess I will have to switch themes.

Yes you do. Go to any page editor. In the Page Attributes module you will find a drop-menu at Templates. The three options are Default, Showcase, and Sidebar Templates.
