“Leave a Reply” box

The “leave a reply” box is not showing on new blog posts; instead, it says “comments off.” I have been writing this blog for years and have not changed the comments settings. All comments settings are set to enable comments. Please advise.

It’s Bigepicks.wordpress.com. Good news — I have restored the “leave a reply” box; the box allowing comments in the post was unchecked in the “more options” section under settings in the post (“Ring the Bells That Can Be Rung”).
However — I am puzzled about why this box was unchecked to begin with? How did that happen, when all the general settings for the blog are set to enable comments? I have never had to enable this function for a specific post in the 12+ years I have been writing this blog.
And one more question re: the fix I just made. I do not see the same settings function when I open the post in the app. I only see it when I open WP in my browser. Shouldn’t there be an option to enable comments for individual posts in the app? If it’s there, where is it?

I am puzzled about why this box was unchecked to begin with? How did that happen, when all the general settings for the blog are set to enable comments?
I see you toggled the comment setting off and back on a couple times yesterday, and if I create a new post on your site now, the comments box is showing as checked. So my best guess is that this was a random glitch that hit your site, which you fixed by switching it off and back on again. If this happens again, please don’t touch any settings and let us know so we can take a look, but for the moment I don’t see anything wrong.
I do not see the same settings function when I open the post in the app.
It’s not possible to enable/disable comments for individual posts from the mobile app at this time.
Did you initially create these posts in the mobile app or the web?

I just made a new post, “Remember the Titans,” and once again it has published with “Comments Off.” Why is this happening??

Hmm. When I view the site in my browser there are comments enabled on the Remember The Titans post.

Yes , because I went in through the browser and enabled the comments. My question is why, suddenly, the posts are defaulting to “Comments off.” It’s a pain to manually enable every time, especially since I can’t find this option on your app.

Yes, that is exactly the problem and the same circumstances I’ve experienced. Any news about a fix? As the other user said, it’s a pain to have to go in to the web site and manually change the setting.

We don’t have a timeline on a fix yet, as our developers haven’t been able to determine what is causing this yet.
Can you please provide us the following info:
* Your Android/iOS version number
* The type of device you’re using, e.g. Huawei P20/iPhone 8, etc.
* The version number of the WordPress app installed on your phone
