Length of Post Shown in Email Sent to Followers

  How can I change the length of the post that displays in the email that is sent to blog followers? Right now, the entire post is shown in the email. We’d prefer that they ready a portion of it, and then click a link to go to the post on our site to continue reading (in order to drive site traffic).

  We currently do use the tag to display only excerpts on the front page. However, I’m looking for a way to show only excerpts in the EMAILS that are sent to our blog followers notifying them that the blog has a new post.

  For reference, the wordpress.COM blog below sends an email for each post when you follow it:
