Hi there,
Are you speaking of https://blackrockcpa.wordpress.com/contact/?
You won’t be able to change that to http, no. We automatically issue SSL certificates for all sites on WordPress.com, and it’s not possible to switch that off for any site or for specific pages on a site.
Why do you want that page to not be encrypted? Not having SSL on a site potentially places at risk everyone’s security who visits it, and I don’t know of any good reason to not have SSL active on a domain. What exactly are you trying to do?
-
Correct.
I don’t want SSL cuz it costs an extra $75/yr. There are 10,000 vendors out there that want you to pay “just an extra few bucks a month/yr.” I can NOT afford all of them. I would be bankrupt before I could count to 10.The website is plain jane and almost useless. There is NO info exchanged on it. Therefore, there’s no need for it to be “secure.”
Facebook is by far much, much more superior. And it’s free………..
There’s got to be a work around. Is there something I can do to fix this?
Thanks,
Jake J. -
Hi Jake,
I don’t want SSL cuz it costs an extra $75/yr.
Third party hosts charge for SSL certificates but we do not. We offer free HTTPS on all WordPress.com sites by default (including those on the free plan), so you aren’t being charged for this feature.
As @kokkieh mentioned above, it won’t be possible to switch blackrockcpa.wordpress.com to HTTP and using HTTPS is beneficial because it helps to keep your site secure.

How can i get my site hosted inexpensively (or free :)?
Does wordpress offer hosting?
If so, how much is it? I can’t be nickled & dimed to death.Thank you much,
Jake J.

When you made this account, you also made a free website http://blackrockcpa.wordpress.com/.
-
Hmmm. I didn’t make this website/account. I paid someone to make the website then I paid them quarterly to host it.
I’m trying to find out where I can host it for cheap (and no annual “SSL fees”).
Can someone help me as to what I can do?Thanks,
Jake J.

Jake, we can help. All sites here include SSL. If you want to use a custom domain, you’ll need a plan. You can find the pricing here:
https://wordpress.com/pricingThe only issue is that if you had a custom site built, it may not be fully compatible with our plans. If you’re willing to start fresh though (with the design … you can likely still import the content) you could go with a free or personal blogger plan.

Can someone please help me?
The site is made http://www.BlackrockCPA.com (it’s a wordpress site).I just need somewhere to host it for cheap (cheaper than godaddy, as they want to charge $60/year for an “SSL Certificate”). They only charge $30/yr for hosting though.
On our website currently, the “Contact” link doesn’t come up, as it is an httpS link, but i don’t have an SSL with GoDaddy. I need to get this resolved.
Please help me get this finished – I just need it to be moved to whomever can host it for not a lot of $. I need our “Contact” page up and running, so people can get a hold of us, ASAP!
Thanks much,
Jake -
These forums are for sites hosted here at WordPress.com, hence the confusion.
If you want to host that site here, you would need our Business plan which accepts outside themes. You can see the pricing here:
https://wordpress.com/pricingIf you are looking for a different host for your WordPress.org installation, you might try the forums at https://wordpress.org/support instead. Good luck!

Can I get by with the “free” plan? I already have the site built. It’s a super simple site, just 2 little pages.
Thanks much,
Jake -
You wouldn’t be able to use your current theme or any outside plugins you’ve added. You also would not be able to use a custom domain with a free site.
Have you seen this page?
