Link icoc doesn’t show items in the Media Library

I uploaded 15 PowerPoint files to my Media Library. They all appear, all nice and happy. But when I go to my Page and click the Link icon, there are only options to go to a URL or About. There is no option to go to the Media Library and click on a file. Further, when I am on my page and click Media on the top left, I get a No items found. The Help button tells me that this is a known glitch (their words) and that I should go to the Media Library from the Dashboard and copy/paste the url of each file. This is awfully clunky. I do realize that I am a newbie with WordPress, but could you all make it just a little easier for newbies like me to build a simple website? Please?

I completely understand how frustrating that workaround feels, especially when you are just getting started with WordPress! The reason your PowerPoint files aren’t appearing when you click “Media” in the top left of the editor is that the inline media tab filters specifically for web-renderable media like images, audio, and videos. To bypass this and link your presentations easily without copying and pasting URLs from your dashboard, you can use the File block instead. While editing your page on ur site , click the + Block Inserter icon and add a File block. When you choose Media Library from within this block, all 15 of your PowerPoint files will show up perfectly! Selecting a file will automatically create a clean, direct download link and a neat download button for your visitors, completely eliminating the clunky manual steps.

Thank you for being so nice instead of making me feel dumb. I’ll give that a go.
