Link To My Book On Amazon Not Working Via Widget

  I used a “Pre-Order Now At Amazon” image on my site. I have it linked to my book sale page on Amazon. The link works if you’re in the:

  http://www.14daysamemoir.wordpress.com

  mode, but won’t work if people access the site from the forwarding address:

  http://www.14daysamemoir.com

  Is there any way around this? If I upgrade to a premium service will this fix the problem? I’m an author and I need people to be able to access my book via my site. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

  That is most likely happening because you have set up forwarding at your registrar rather than setting up Domain Mapping:

  http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-existing-domain/

  That method may save a couple of bucks, but it causes a number of issues. Not the least of which is that the URL for every page now shows up in a viewers browser bar as http://www.14daysamemoir.com/. For example, clicking on “the author” shows http://www.14daysamemoir.com/ as the URL rather than https://14daysamemoir.com/about-the-author/

  I would encourage you to disable the forwarding and set up Domain Mapping.

  I did what you said. Followed the directions. Everything seemed to go smoothly. But when I went to check my site, all of my widgets on the right side of my site disappeared! Where did they go??? And is there any way to retrieve them? Only one remained – but about four – including an Amazon forward, my Facebook and Twitter forwards and a link to my subscriber list all went away. Arghghgh. Help!

  I actually just rebuilt the whole thing so no longer need an answer. However, I would like to know why everything disappeared.

  I’m unsure why that would have happened. I cannot think of anything that would have caused such a thing just by adding domain mapping.
