I have a wix website with a blog. However i’d like to create a wordpress blog which links from my wix website as the wix blog is subpar. My website domain is http://www.behealthyhappywhole.com. I just registered a wordpress domain, behealthyhappywholeblog.com. But I also registered a subdomain I think. I’m not sure which route to go with. Please help.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there!
It looks like the domain behealthyhappywhole.com is registered through GoDaddy.
You could set up the subdomain blog.behealthyhappywhole.com to direct to your WordPress.com site.
Or you can go with the new domain behealthyhappywholeblog.com.
The first option is standard, but you go either way. Let me know which one you’d like to do and I can give you steps to go forward. :)

Hi Shawna,
Thanks for your reply. Can it be changed to blog.behealthyhappywhole.com? If not, then the one I registered is fine. My question is, how do I link them together. For instance, from my website http://www.behealthyhappywhole.com, I know I can create a link/image that users click on to get to the blog. But how do I do the reverse? How can users viewing the blog get back to my website (behealthyhappywhole.com)?
I appreciate your help!

Hello!
Sorry for the delay over the weekend. I’ve refunded your domain purchase and cancelled the domain behealthyhappywholeblog.com. You can map the domain blog.behealthyhappywhole.com by selecting “Map an existing domain” here:
Once you’ve done that, log into your registrar and create a CNAME record for blog.behealthyhappywhole.com that points to claudiapetrilli2014.wordpress.com. You can see some more explanation of this here:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-subdomain/#instructions-for-mapping-subdomains
Now, for linking your blog subdomain site back to the main site, it looks like you’ve already got this set up at Appearance > Menus. This is exactly what I would suggest.
You can also add a widget instead if you’d like. I’d suggest the Image Widget.
Let me know if you have further questions!

Hi Shawna,
Thanks for your help. I think I miscommunicated what I’m looking to do. I have my website http://www.behealthyhappywhole.com. I would like to have a separate blog on wordpress (blog.behealthyhappywhole.com). From my website, I’ll be able to link to the wordpress blog. I’m not sure why I have to create a CNAME. I don’t want visitors to go directly to the blog when they visit URL http://www.behealthyhappywhole.com. There will be a button for them to click from my main site, which takes them to my wordpress blog. Does that make sense?
Also, the url (blog.behealthyhappywhole.com) doesn’t seem to be working. Not sure what I did there :(Thanks!

The CNAME is what’s going to make the subdomain blog.behealthyhappywhole.com work correctly. Without it you’ll either get redirected to the base domain behealthyhappywhole.com or land on a blank or broken page.
The CNAME creates the subdomain ‘blog’ and tells it where to find the website you want to display.
Hope this clarifies things! Let me know if I can help further.

One more question Shawna,
On the page you gave me that explains creating a CNAME, it says “Same Rules Apply – The Domain Mapping Upgrade does not enable the permission to use advertising, any kind of prohibited code, or upload additional themes or plugins. With the upgrade, your blog will still be hosted here at WordPress.com, which means that you will not have FTP access to your files and you will still be required abide by our Terms of Service.”
Does this mean I wouldn’t be able to have affiliate images or links on my blog?

We do not allow image ads here on WordPress.com, but link ads that are related to your content are allowed as well as sponsored posts as long as the content is original.
You can read more about our advertising policies here:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/advertising/
Let me know if you need any clarifications on the types of advertising we allow. :)

Hi Shawna,
The links are still not working. On my blog, I have an about page and at the end is the link to my website, but when you click on it, it brings me to another page on the blog. Also, the same thing happens with the widget I created. Maybe my html is wrong? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

Hey Claudia!
It looks like you didn’t include the “http://” part of your URL in either place. If you don’t include this, our system will think you’re linking to something within your site and will append “http://blog.behealthyhappywhole.com/” to it.
Once you add http:// those links should start working.
