linking current domain

    Our current website is on Squarespace. We are designing a new website and we want to use that domain (cclb-corps.org) but don’t want it linked right now. We want to build it first and then replace the old domain with a fresh website from WordPress. Is that possible?

    Hi there,

    Yes you can fully set up your new site with us before pointing the domain here. That way your current site can stay “live” until your new one is ready.

    When you first create your site we will assign a staging subdomain you can use to get set up in private. When you are ready to “launch” the new site to replace the current one, that is when you will want to “map” or transfer your domain to us.

    Please note that to connect your domain you will need one of our plans listed here, which all include a free domain transfer as part of the plan: https://wordpress.com/pricing/

    Also note that we have an importer tool you can use to import your Squarespace content: https://en.support.wordpress.com/import/import-from-squarespace/

    This will not move over the entire site design (that is not compatible with our system) but will attempt to bring over any pages, uploaded media, and other content so you don’t have to start over from scratch on this end.
