Linking remote DB on the website
-
Hello, everyone, I have some questions that I can’t find anything on the internet.
So I am doing a project based on names for boys and girls. I have a remote database that I would like to connect to the back-end so I can be able to query this database to the front-end part and showcase the data. The thing is I never done this and I can’t find any information around on how to do it any suggestions. The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi, it’s possible, sure! If you’re a developer I’d recommend setting this up with an API for the remote database, and a plugin that queries that.
Can I recommend the developer forum at https://wordpress.org/support/forums/ though? These forums are actually for the sites hosted here at WordPress.com. Our setup is a bit different:
And, we do support plugins here now on our Business Plan if you’d like someone to manage your hosting and maintenance for you, though you would be in charge of maintaining your own plugin, of course. You can find more info here:

Thanks for your reply. Please ignore the website shown in my comment. My question is about a website that is developed locally using MAMP.

Since you’re using the open-source WordPress software, you need to seek help at these forums:

These forums are for WordPress.com hosted sites only. If you want to know more about the differences between WordPress.com and the WordPress software you can read this document:
